
Mélanie Carpentier joined the firm in September 2003 as a technical adviser in patents. The recipient of prestigious sholarships from the "Fonds de recherche sur la nature et les technologies" and from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, she was awarded a doctorate in biochemistry by the University of Montreal in 2004. Her research findings were published in several scientific journals. Furthermore, she earned the Merck Frosst Award in 2001 and the AstraZeneca Award in 2003 for the outstanding quality of her scientific presentations.
Mélanie Carpentier’s main areas of practice are biotechnology and pharmaceutics. In particular, her expertise includes genetic engineering (transgenic animals), biochemistry, protein purification, diagnostic methods, enzymology, genomics, proteomics as well as cellular and molecular biology. During the past few years, she has gained experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications as well as in patentability and infringement matters.
